Ensure efficient operation of the Human Resources Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Complies with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces department/unit rules, procedures, administrative directives and state statures concerning the confidentially of all staff information.
Promotes positive community relations through effective communication with prospective employees, Gadsden Independent School Employees and community members.
Prepares application packets for all substitute positions for prospective substitute staff.
Initiates the offer of employment for substitute employees and follows up with the necessary paperwork.
Maintains updated personnel records for substitute employees in accordance with district policies, regulations and state and federal laws
Prepares, under the direction of the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources, the necessary information for determining the salary of substitute employees.
Coordinates Substitute Orientations for new employees.
Develops and maintains a substitute personnel records system in order to generate necessary information for substitute staff.
Verifies credentials, reference checks and educational components for all substitute employees.
Submits applications to State Department of Education for substitute teacher licensure certificates.
Works in collaboration with Legal Specialist and Director for Human Resources for clearance and expiration dates of Substitute licenses.
Runs a weekly report of substitute fill rates.
Receives and process' resignations of substitute staff.
Sends out Letters of Reemployment to all substitutes at the end of each school year to update substitute status.
Will be central point of contact for all school sites requiring substitute teachers on a daily basis.
Updates all Substitute licensure information in the Human Resources
Maintains the records for employee Acknowledgement Receipt for the anti-sexual harassment training and participates in the anti-harassment training for substitutes.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrates oral and reading proficiency in English; demonstrates ability in secretarial/clerical skills to include word processing; experience in secretarial/clerical work
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s Degree Preferred)
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the area of personnel preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) Preferred
- Ability to meet and deal with the public; establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates; compose correspondence; follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to make routine decisions independently.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
- Ability to use multiple virtual instructional platforms.
- Proficient in Google Suites
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
